I have to admit that I was a littttlllleee nervous about going to a design blog conference. Why, you ask?
Because. . . psssst. . . I'm not a designer. 🙂
But all the sessions I attended were so helpful and really broad enough that any blogger could benefit from them.
I took a lot of notes during all of the sessions, but I want to share just a few quick notes from my favorite.
The one on
Here's why this panel resonated with me so much–
blogging to me is all about empowering women. No really. Through blogging we have a platform that enables us to share our voices in a way that previous generations did not have.
And the key to this power is that it means so much more when we band together. When we listen and support one another. As a community, blogging allows us to connect and embrace and engage in a way that is so exhilirating.
A speaker at Alt (who of course I can't remember) said that she really believed that we all needed to remember that there was enough out in the blogging world for all of us. Enough readers. enough inspiration. you name it. we have to remember that we are stronger as a sharing, thriving community than we ever could be as single voices writing alone.
and so, Alt for me, was like walking from a dark room into a park filled with sunshine. I just tried to soak it up and make some friends. I'll finish up my Alt recaps tomorrow with some thoughts and some links to new friends. For now, here are my favorite comments from the Collaboration session:
From The Jealous Curator:
"Drive it like it's Stolen."
when talking about asking people to write for your blog:
"Make it easy for people to say yes."
rules for graceful conflict
1. decide what you hope to get out of a collaboration
2. don't pair off. ever.
3. you have to woman-up. express conflict as a team
4. voting system. If someone's cares more about their vote-then their vote should count for more.
5. walk away when you're not giving your best. when you're phoning it in.
What do you think are the keys to collaboration? What makes you proud to be a part of the blogging community?
