Last week we met with Hayley at Got Light to discuss how we would be able to turn the Exploratorium from looking like a big empty gymnasium:
into a elegant, semiformal and dreamily romantic event:
When we pulled up to the Got Light warehouse we knew we were in the right place when we saw the sparkling chandeliers peaking out from behind the warehouse gate doors.
In less than an hour we learned all about IPLs, backlighting, drapes and floor washes.
Hayley was kind, thorough and professional. I am sooo excited that we are working with such an incredible lighting company. I think lighting is going to be one of the most important pieces of decor for our venue since it is such a huge, dark space.
Like I have mentioned before, our general theme for the look of the wedding is that we want it to feel as though you are outside on a starry night (even though it will be inside).
The one lighting feature that I've known I wanted all along is a light strand that goes by many names–bistro, cafe, IPL, etc. They are the beautiful round bulbs on long strands. You see them a lot at evening weddings outside or in barns. They're the perfect lighting to add some sweet southern style to our indoor event.
Here are some of my lighting inspiration pictures from my wedding pinboard on pinterest. Candles are going to be key. I love the soft, amber lighting. It's so romantic:
I love this combo of floating candles and soft colored flowers:
I swoon. Can you imagine?? So beautiful, filling the night sky. Just like, well in Tangled. Did you see it? You should. Do you have any lighting inspiration to share? Anything you think would help to make the Exploratorium more warm?
Let's light it up ya'll.
