I picked up the FOH dresses today!!!!
Soooooooo, I'm paying for all of the FOH dresses.
It's ok. I promise. I know many of you may be gasping. I didn't really think this was a big deal before we got engaged. I had always wanted to pay for my FOH dresses.
Now let me be very clear, I don't regret a single dress I bought as a bridesmaid. I was excited to be a part of those weddings and more than happy to buy my own dress (and I should note that all of the bridesmaids dresses I have purchased so far were most definitely re-wearable).
But I have eight friends of honor, and I knew that I wanted long emerald green dresses (that's what I've always wanted). And let's be honest, there aren't too many places that you can wear a floor length Emerald Green dress (besides maybe a Saint Patrick's day ball?) I mean, am I right??? I know I am. So that was that.
This is one detail that has always been important to me. I love all my ladies dearly, and I don't want them to spend their hard earned cash on some random dress that they will probably never wear again. I really appreciate brides who go out of their way to pick dresses for their ladies to buy that they think that they will probably wear again, but I knew I wasn't one of those brides.
There was never any question which color my ladies would be sporting. I really love green. So much so that there is a tiny part of me that even wishes I could wear green instead of white! When I started the search, I had a pretty specific image in mind:
- floor length
- < than $250
Here's one of the early contenders:
I found the perfect dress pretty early on (and when I find a green thing I love, I know it!).
Once I saw these long beauties I immediately went to check the color schemes. That's when I lept and never looked back. I couldn't find any dress that I loved more that this one:
She's a Belsoie from Jasmine bridal. So lovely and flowy and a perfect shade of green. And at just around $216, the price is right!
You can find it only at one store in San Francisco. And it just so happens to be available at my favorite bridal salon (where I am getting the alterations done for my dress: Carol is the best!): Novella.
Once I found out they carried these dresses at Novella, I knew it was meant to be.
I tried to give my FOH a chance to give me other dress ideas, but their suggestions only made me realize even more that this was the right choice (sorry ladies!).
I think these will go perfectly with our orange flowers and my long lace dress. I'm going to try to find fabric that is complementary to make my sash. I was a little worried that the green would be too dark, but it turned out perfect.
What do you think of it?
