Two years ago this week, my mom and I started a little etsy shop for vintage finds.
My mom has always loved antiques and has been finding and selling them in many fashions for decades. We share a love for all varieties of vintage items. She sells antiques in several booths at shops, but we wanted to start this etsy shop together online as a hobby and something we can do and share together.
Growing up I spent a lot of time in antique stores. I would walk through the aisles and try to imagine where each piece might of come from, where each piece may have come from.
I think there is a magic to the way an item somehow makes it way to us.
Our shop isn't really big, we just have 26 items. We love that it's this fun thing we can do together, and it's small and manageable enough not to be stressful.
We both would love to spend a bit more time on the shop, and we'd love to dedicate more time to finding new items to put online. Maybe after the wedding. 🙂
Right now we have wall pockets, handbags, hats, and other fun collectibles.
We recently added a few fun items to the shop:
and I'm specially proud of this newbie, an Enid Collins bag that I found:
It is the best feeling when you're at any type of shop and you see a vintage item or brand that you recognize. When I saw this Wise Guy Enid Collins bag, my heart immediately lept. I could tell by the detailed beading and the horse mark (thanks for teaching me mom!), that this was the real deal.
But I played it cool. I looked around at other items and didn't beeline over to the bag. I was curious to see whether or not the seller actually knew what treasure they had, but I didn't want the seller to see how ecstatic I was about the bag (me = smooth. not.)
When I finally walked up to the bag, I saw that the price was right! I was in luck. I almost lost my cool because I whipped my cash out sooo fast. 🙂
Being involved with Hanson Vintage definitely is not about making any money for us. It's just a really fun hobby mom and I can share.
I look forward to being able to dedicate more time to the shop after the wedding!
Do you have a fun hobby that you share with a loved one?
