It's funny how life gets so busy and our days get so filled with work, that sometimes I forget what it's like to spend long stretches of time with Viet. or just by myself. When I have weekends like this past one, it feels like I'm stealing moments, like it's too good to be true.
Saturday Viet and I got up bright and early and spent the day at the Engaged Encounter at Old St. Mary's Cathedral where we are getting married.
Viet's not used to getting up before 8am. This is what he put on when I told him to dress in layers:
It was a really wonderful experience. Most of the things we discussed we had touched on before, but it was so nice to have a whole day to focus on each other. It was nice to dedicate real quality time to talk through all the key things that are important to our relationship.
I promise we were paying attention during all the sessions, but we also made a few love doodles. Viet always draws me cute little jellyfish, so I took a try at drawing them for him (not nearly as good as he can). And he drew some little future baby jellyfish (with pacifiers). I think this was during the family planning portion of the day. 🙂
And then, we had date night! We saw John Carter (loved it!), and Viet made me a tasty dinner (stay tuned for the recipe tomorrow):
This morning, before Viet woke up, I spent some time just reading, watching the silence, and snuggling with my Scratch'n. oh and enjoying the ranuculus. I love when they're back in season (and in our wedding colors no less!):
After Viet woke up, we headed down to San Jose to order our Vietnamese invitations (we're doing two versions of our invites-more on this later).
After deciding and ordering invites in less than an hour, we made our way to Michaels to pick up some DIY wedding supplies. On the way, the sky was so beautiful. A hole opened up and the heavens shined through (a bright stolen moment in an otherwise cold grey day):
Once we got to Michaels, we didn't find what we came for, but we sure had fun:
I hope your weekend was full of many stolen moments.
If it wasn't, I hope you steal some soon. 🙂
