I just finished writing a few thank you notes. There are wedding projects literally stacked and scattered all around our apartment, and gifts piled up on tables.
I am sleepy (work has been crazy recently), and my voice keeps coming and randomly going.
My kitty is snuggled on my lap, and I can hear the rain falling through the open window.
Even things are a bit stressful, and I feel as though I have more projects to do than I do time to do them, I still just keep feeling
thankful. and in this moment, life is blissful and still.
I love writing thank you notes.
They're not always long or super personal or even eloquent (they're rarely eloquent). But I get the chance to put in writing just a few small words that whether the end reader knows so or not are meant to convey our love and appreciation for having them in our lives.
I may be writing Thank you for the lovely cupcake holder. We can't wait to fill it with yummy frosting and sprinkles.
Although of course we are extremely grateful for each and every generous gift we recieve, what those words really mean are:
thank you for being our family. our friends. our community.
thank you for filling our lives with laughter, joy, and happy memories.
thank you for helping us to celebrate this key moment in our lives. We couldn't imagine doing it without you.
We just don't have that many chances in our lives to really genuinely stop and thank the people around us for making our lives fuller and richer.
As approach the wedding, there have been so many days filled with so much love and joy from my friends and family. I just feel like I will never be able to thank them all enough. I feel truly, truly blessed.
So if you get a thank you note from me any time over the next few months scribbled in my tiny green cursive, please know that there just wasn't enough room for me to write all the things I really wanted to say. that really we just want you to know we are so thankful for you.
