Last weekend, B and I made chicken and sausage gumbo for the first time. I have been craving gumbo for months! I know it is dead summer heat in most parts of the country, but it still gets pretty chilly all the time in SF (even in July).
I searched for the perfect recipe for a while, and finally settled on this one. Boy was it was perfect.
This is definitely a weekend recipe because it takes a good 3-4 hours from prep to table, but trust me it is worth it.
While we were cooking, I couldn't help singing this song (to the tune of Hey Mambo, Mambo Italiano):

We made the gumbo in our 5.5 quart new le creuset.
