Oh exercise, how I love and hate you.
At the end of the day, I am so lazy. I know that I feel better and sleep better and live better when I'm exercising regularly.
And so even if I'm not as consistent as I'd like to be, dag nabit I'm going to keep trying.
For me, it all comes down to her:
Hey Jillian,
Yes. I know you believe in me. I promise. I'm not Phoning it IN.
Let's do this.
-Mere
This month I'm committing to cheap and real exercise. My friend Shap and I are going to make this happen. We're exercising once a day no matter what.
These are our choices:
1) We can do one of Jillian's awesome and easy workouts: Yoga Meltdown, 30 day shred, Killer Buns & Thighs
2) Or (sorry Jillian) if we're just not in the mood for the videos, we will do our own combination of exercises. These are for my "lazy" days. If I can't motivate myself to turn on the video or I'm in a place where that doesn't make sense (on vacation), I can at least do these series of exercises. We don't have any professional experience in compiling these sorts of exercises. We just picked the ones that we "like" the most:
We will do 2 sets of at least 10 of these. I don't know the "real" names of any of these, so my apologies.
squats
chair dips
push ups
sit-ups bicycle style
lunges (both legs)
leg lifts laying down
with your knees bent and back on the ground, pelvic lifts
on all fours lift your knee up to shoulder level (I call these chicken wings)
If we do one form or exercise or the other, we get a star on our calendars. We'll see how well this works. :)
I'm so proud of this little calendar! I made it myself from scratch in Photoshop Elements. I realized after I just posted this calendar that it looks like it's my 25th anniversary at work. Nope. It's my organization's 25th anniversary celebration. I'm also supppper excited about the City Arts and Lectures series. We got tickets for the whole speakers' series this year. We've been to a few in the past, and we've always enjoyed it. We also love supporting 826 Valencia--one of our favorite local non-profits that helps kids build their writing skills. Anywayssss, with all those weddings and fun outtings, I've got plenty of motivation to stay fit!
How do you keep yourself motivated to stay fit?
