It has been a glorious first month of my Golden Year! If you’re visiting for the first time, this year I turned 29 on the 29th of October. I’m celebrating a Golden Year of awesomeness in honor of my Golden Birthday. Each month I’m committing to live each month purposefully and to choose to learn and experience new things in all the areas of my life that I enjoy (such as cooking, reading, traveling, crafting–you know. . . all the fun stuff). As my first Golden month, I’ve learned a lot in November. I was a little over-ambitious in some ways, but overall I’m stoked about my golden year.
Here’s a review of Golden November:
The weekly song lists have been one of my favorite things about Golden November. I loved learning more about Classical music and listening to such a wide variety of Classical. In case you missed them, here are the four weekly playlists I created on spotify:
I am loving 1Q84! Unfortunately, I was a little ambitious to think I could finish it this month with so much else going on, but I’ve really enjoyed it. I’ve made it to Book 2, and I highly recommend it so far.
Welllllll, I got started on the Wedding Album (!), but I was way too ambitious to think I could finish this project in one month. I’m grateful that Golden November at least motivated me to get started. This project is a work in progress. Stay tuned. 🙂
I can’t believe I didn’t even have the chance to write about line-dancing this month because things were so busy around the blog. Aurora is sorta like my very own bucket list. And each month during my Golden Year I’m choosing one item from Aurora to tackle. In November I chose line dancing. My love for line dancing has definitely been rekindled thanks to my wonderful colleague John! He helped to found an incredible non-profit called the Sundance Saloon in San Francisco. They have classes and dancing every week on Thursday and Sunday nights, and it is so fun. I want to learn all the dances! So far I’ve learned the following ones (check out the instructional/demo videos from the Sundance website):
Walk the Line
My Maria (love this one):
Ghost Train (Love this one too!):
I can’t wait to learn more. There are few things in the world to me more fun that just letting loose and stomping out a good dance. Even though Sundance Saloon is a dancing hall for girls and gals that identify as LGBT, they are more than welcoming to all us straight folk who love to dance. I can’t wait to learn some more. I’ve tried the two step a few times, and even though it’s pretty tricky, I think I can master it! We had hopes of visiting the Broken Spoke in Austin to do a little line dancing there, but it was closed the night we wanted to go.
It was a pretty good month for diyphotoaday. I took lots of awesome pictures (some of which you can see sprinkled above or over to the right). You can check out all my November pictures by following me on instagram: notmerelyliving, but I think I’m going to go in a bit of a different photo a day direction in December.
And there you have it! That’s by Golden November in review. I hope you’ve enjoyed following along. As always, thanks for reading.
This weekend the hubby and I are in full Christmas decorating mode! We’re planning to get a tree, put up all of our decorations, and really settle into the season.
Hope your weekend is Merry and Bright!
