In January, I started a fundraising campaign to support an incredible local non-profit organization, At the Crossroads, that supports homeless youth. The awesome thing about their annual I Think I Can Campaign is that they challenge folks to pursue their personal goals and dreams much in the same way that they encourage homeless youth to pursue their own goals and dreams.
My campaign is focused on Line Dancing. Here’s the thing about line dancing: it’s just fun. I want to spend more of my time doing things that are just pure fun. Line dancing is ordered and structured (so no surprises), and it also is legit excercise. It definitely gets my blood pumping. Basically this all boils down to the fact that there is nothing bad about line dancing! Only good!
For every donation of $25 or more that I raise through my campaign, I will learn 1 new line dance that I will video myself doing and post publicly here on NML.
I am almost half way to reaching my goal of $1,000. I’ve recieved 10 donations totaling $450!! If I reach my goal of raising $1,000, I will take this personal challenge to a whole new level by choreographing and videoing my very own line dance creation.
So here are my first two videos (at least 8 more to go). The fact that I am posting these pretty embarassing videos of myself is a testament to my commitment and dedication to this cause. I hope you’ll take a second to check out At The Crossroad’s amazing work and consider supporting my campaign.
General Ego Disclaimer: I have no formal dance training. at all. don’t get your hopes up.
Video #2: Before you even ask, I have no idea what sorta intro dance I got going on here. I beat to my own drums, folks. Also, whatever imaginary rug I keep slipping on has got to GO!
