After traveling over the past weekend and with a very busy schedule over the course of the next few weeks, I want to stop for just a moment to pause to think about self care. I am really good at taking care of myself in some ways and really awful in other ways.
I’m great at keeping myself enriched, inspired, and motivated, but oftentimes that type of amazing caretaking takes place at the expense of making sure I get to bed on time, or get enough exercise, or eat enough green stuff. Since my goal of the month is to focus a bit more on the ways I care for myself, this week I’m thinking a lot about how I need to take better care of myself physically and emotionally (read yoga, salad, time to knit or take walks).
I’m a little behind on my post writing since I’ve been traveling. Last night I was writing intensely to try to catch up and to get today’s post ready, when my eyes started to get heavy and my body started to shut down. Instead of furiously writing on like I would usually do, I just stopped and wrote this instead. There is always another day to share that post that means so much to me, and there can never be (in my opinion) too many posts where I just keep it real.
Check back tomorrow for an inspiring interview with my Grandmother Lois, and if you haven’t checked it out yet, you should definitely check out the Grandmother Power blogging campaign.
What are the ways that you make sure you’re taking care of yourself physically and emotionally?
