Whirlwind seems to be a word I used a lot to describe my life lately. The days have been jam packed and joy-filled, and it’s not going to slow down any time soon. Our work and social calendars are slammed this month.
I had an incredible long weekend. I celebrated a birthday and a wedding, took advantage of some much needed nephew time, and got to celebrate mother’s day with my mom (something I haven’t done in years).
Thursday night, my lovely friend Stacy celebrated her birthday with a lovely dinner underneath the bridge and the stars. The evening was just simply magical.
After dinner I hopped on an 11:45 red-eye flight to Pensacola. When I arrived bright eyed and bushy tailed (not), I rented a car and met my brother, his wife, and my adorable nephews for some quality time and lunch. Then I hit the open road for the 2.5 hour drive
to Seaside, where my college friend MAJ’s wedding.
It was just me, the heat, and the road. I had really been looking forward to this drive from the moment I booked my flight. Driving along the breathtaking gulf coast on a beautiful day is my happy place. With my windows down and radio blaring, I was relaxed and present.
I barely made it to the quaint and picturesque Seaside in time for the rehearsal dinner. And I’m so glad I made it! Great food, lots of
love, meeting new friends—what could be better?
Saturday we had sometime to kill before the 5:30 ceremony, so we went to one of the most amazing breakfast places ever: the Donut Hole. If you’re ever in Seaside or Destin, trust me, you must eat here.
And then the wedding. What can I say? MAJ just glowed. I had a blast. Great times.
To end the perfect weekend, I drove back down the coast (sigh) and met my family for a Mother’s day brunch. It meant so much to me to be able to see my mom and hug her on Mother’s day. I’m a very, very lucky daughter, and I hardly ever get the chance to be with her in person on that special day. As a surprise, I gave my mom the quilt I made last month!
I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and a very special Mother’s day. To get your weekend started on the right note, here’s my nephew Jori to wish you a Happy Monday:
