My bags are not quite packed yet, but my heart is ready. These gorgeous peonies have been slowly blooming on our dining room table this week, and I keep looking at them and imagining what the flowers will look like in Paris.
I have dreamed of this trip for most my life, and I’m feeling grateful, excited, and a little scared that we’re finally going.
I mean not scared as in frightened, but more as in whoa, this is big. This is not just some vacation for me–it feels like a whole page on my life list.
I’m trying to prepare myself to be present to soak in all the sights and the sounds. I want to take lots of pictures, but I also want to just as often not take the pictures and just be in the moments. I’m bringing my journal, so I can make sure to write down as many little details and feelings and ideas as I can along the way.
I’m preparing myself to be as present as I can be. And as much as I love my job (love it), my daily routine (the best), and even this space (lifechanging), I am ready to walk away from my life for a little while. I’m ready to not have any of the normal obligations. I’m ready to act like a little kid-to learn and explore and to be filled with wonder. I need some wonder!!!
In addition to visiting magical cities, learning new things, trying new things, falling in love with new places (because I’m pretty sure that’s inevitable), I also just can’t wait to explore with Viet. We are at our absolute best together when we are out adventuring without an agenda. I can’t wait to just spend this much uninteruppted time with him. That time, in and of itself, is such a treat for us.
While I’m away, there are going to be some amazing guest posts around here. A lineup of my absolute favorite bloggers and friends are going to be whisking you away to their favorite vacation spots, so make sure to stop by and give them a warm welcome.
I’ll pop in a few times to say hello, but I hope you’ll follow along with our adventures on Instagram and Twitter. I’m debating a good hashtag for our trip, and I’m leaning towards #NguyeningInFrance. What do you think? 🙂
