Today’s Blog Crush is my dear friend (#lifecrush) Stace. We were coworkers many years ago and became fast friends. Stacy is an event planning guru, DIY magician, and PR expert. Her blog is fresh and inspiring, and she is a powerhouse of innovation and creativity. I’m lucky to call this lady my friend, and I’m excited to share more about her as today’s Blog Crush! Read on to learn more about Stacy:
When did you start blogging and what inspired you to start blogging?
I started blogging back in 2008 – At the time, I had just launched my etsy shop and started a business, and I was looking for a way to share what inspired me and any new additions to my shop!
Over the years my blog has never stopped evolving. It started out with the experience of starting a business and transitioned from a personal blog to a wedding planning blog to a DIY blog!
I love that the blog provides me with a space to share whatever I feel and talk about what makes sense to me at that moment. I also love that it’s an ongoing documentation of places, recipes and experiences that I can visit time and time again.
What are the favorite posts you’ve written recently that made you feel like Yes! that was awesome!?
> Treat Box DIY – I thought this ended up cute, easy to recreate and relevant for parties and events.
> One Party – Three DIY’s: I loved the idea of creating three simple DIY’s that could be used for a party. Of the three DIY’s, this was my favorite.
> Upcycled Modern Planter DIY: Honestly, these were just rad. It also didn’t hurt that Better Homes & Gardens picked it up (still, can’t believe it)!
Where do you turn for inspiration?
My go to strategy is actually time in my office without a plan. I’ll sit on the couch, flip through books and magazines, organize my craft supplies and sure enough, something will usually come to me. In fact, I just did it today and came up with this.
What is your favorite pair of shoes and why?
The shoes I’m wearing in this picture:
Source: Jessamyn Harris
The shoes are just plain rad. They were sold at Anthropologie but I found them at Jeremy’s in SF (not familiar? Go there –> http://www.jeremys.com) and paid about 1/3 of the price.
What was the last great book you read?
Confession – I don’t read very often. I’m a total busy body and I have a hard time siting still when I’m at home. For the most part I only read when I’m on vacation or when I have trouble sleeping. I red Bossy Pants a few months back while in Costa Rica and my sleepless reading book of the moment is The Happiness Project.
What current dream or goal are you working towards (big or small)?
Well, I’m currently working on a BIG project that will be announced in November or December. It has taken me a few years to get here (aka – I bought the URL years ago). But now, I’m finally…..almost ready to let the cat out of the bag! Stay tuned.
What’s your go-to meal?
My go to meal is this pear and gorgonzola pizza. I’m one of the laziest meal makers you’ll ever meet. I like recipes that take five ingredients or less and I also try to plan meals that call for similar ingredients and do all the prep work at the same time. For example – turkey meatloaf, turkey spaghetti and turkey chili all use the same meat, chopped onions and chopped bell pepper. Do all the chopping and prep at once = less prep time and less dishes. Win/win!
Do you have a personal motto?
Who are your top five blog crushes?
Fashion: Atlantic Pacific – Her taste is impeccable and inspiring. Her pairings are also fun and unexpected.
Photography: Christine Chang - She’s kind, her work is amazing and it often takes her to exotic locations. She’s has an adorable overweight meatball of a dog and from time to time she gets to shoot Joseph Gordon Levitt and for that alone, I will always read her blog.
Food: The Cuisinerd - Kristin is an awesome gal, one. Two, if I did cook fancy meals, I’d want what she’s having. Three, her graphics and design are always spot on and inspiring.
Just Because: http://dailydishonesty.com. Trust me, you’ll love it too.
