I have a very exciting new column to introduce to you today:
My amazing friend (of honor) Kara is an extremely talented writer and curator and fellow Alabamamian turned San Franciscan. We’ve been friends since Freshman year of college, and she’s incredible at everything she does. She also spent some time in her younger years killing it as a bartender, and she makes the tastiest cocktails you’ve ever tasted. Soooo, I’m going to be featuring some of her cocktail creations here on NML for you guys!
Today’s inaugural cocktail is so good. I’m not even joking you guys. delicious.
The key is you’ve got to put a clove in it.
> Make Simple Syrup in advance
+ 2 ounces of light rum
> Cut 1 circular slice from orange and cut slice into fourths. Insider tip: Stick cloves into the orange fourths (about 4-5 cloves per quarter slice).
> Juice the rest of the orange in with the grapefruit juice.
> Top with a bit of sparkling water or wine and serve (preferably in sparkling sunlight)!
