In a few weeks I’m headed to Camp! Camp Mighty that is! It’s a place where people take the time out of their busy, roller coaster lives to focus on their BIG life goals. I’m a firm believer in life lists, and I’ve been wanting to attend Camp Mighty for a few years now.
Here’s what makes me love Camp Mighty and Go Mighty even more than just their general awesomeness: they’re doing big things y’all.
Prior to Camp starting, we’re all collectively raising $20,000 to support an incredible non-profit organization called Charity: Water.
Charity: Water’s mission is simple:
They want to bring clean and safe drinking water to every person on the planet.
Every day I work for a non-profit organization that I love and really believe in. I help raise money to provide food for low-income families and individuals in need in my community. Every day I think about how we can connect with folks–how we can show them that need all is around them and communicate to them that we need their help.
And so, you see, I thought for a long time (months!) about what I could do to help raise money for Charity: Water, and I had all sorts of ideas (because, that’s kind of my job). I was going to paint or handletter or throw a party (!); I was going to do so many brilliant, creative things.
But then life got in the way, and so now instead all I have time to do is ask:
Will you help me support this important cause?
Water. It’s so basic, essential, and an integral party of our daily lives.
And for most of us, myself included, we just simply take it for granted.
How many times a day do I grab a class or bottle of water without thinking about it? Let’s count, shall we? my midnight bedside glass of water, hot morning tea, afternoon glasses to keep myself hydrated, my nalgene at the gym, a glass of water with dinner. And that’s just the water I drink.
Clean water is always available to me, and I never have to worry about decontaminating it before I drink it.
Charity: Water’s site shares: “Diseases from unsafe water and lack of basic sanitation kill more people every year than all forms of violence, including war.”
Supporting this important organization does more than just provide clean drinking water, it saves lives.
My goal is to raise $200 to provide water to those in need.
Please join me –> Every dollar counts. Just like every gallon. every day.
