*Missing my grandparents. I went to see them for Thanksgiving, and I’m happy for seeing them and sad because I miss them already. This a picture of me and my grams from a week or so ago. True Story: Years ago when I was 18, I met an older woman that I had never met before who said,
“Tell your grandmother I said hello.” to which I said, “Oh. I’m sorry?” because I was sure she must be mistaken.
She said, “Lois, your grandmother. You look just like her. Tell her I said hello.”
and, literally friends, I was just flabbergasted. and proud. and honored.
That’s a story I will always carry with me. Being proud that a stranger could see that I carry my grams with me in my heart (and apparently in my face) will always mean so much to me. Family is an honor. I have learned so much from my grams, and I feel so lucky each time I get to spend quality time with my grandparents.
*Reading Where’d you go, Bernadette by Maria Semple. My kind of book. Loving it so far.
*Watching tv shows that I neglected this Fall while I was watching The Good Wife. I’m catching up on my staples (Grey’s, Scandal, Revenge).
*Eating poorly. I’ve barely eaten lunch at all this week. My colleagues have been bringing me food each day to keep me from losing it.
*Loving the new apartment and settling in during the holidays. There’s just something about the holidays that makes a place feel really yours.
*Feeling so much love for my friends and family right now. Maybe it’s the holidays. Maybe I’m just sentimental. Maybe I’m just happy.
*Celebrating a moment of professional peace. It’s been a doozie at work lately, but I’m finally getting some footing back and feeling less down on myself. All is well.
*Plugging in as many lights as possible. I felt a little like Chevy Chase this weekend as I was balancing precariously to get that perfectly placed light, but it was worth it.
*Counting the days until I get to snuggle my sweet nephews in my arms. The Aunt cuddle monster is coming Kai and Jori! Prepare yourselves!!!
*Getting caught up (finallllly) on my Christmas shopping. I’m SO ready for Christmas. Let’s do THIS!
