I know we’re already two days in, but I want to stop for just a second and reflect on November:
What a November! In a nutshell:
We moved (upstairs). * I got my first real haircut since before we got engaged. * We hosted family and friends. * I got the pictures back from my very first photoshoot. * We started eating yummy winter foods (like my crockpot lasagna). * I made some goals for my 31st year. * I celebrated my good friend Tiffany’s twins. * I rooted on my friend Amit as he shaved his head for childhood cancer research. * I ushered in Fall at a lovely soiree hosted by my friend Camille. * I enjoyed a lovely friendsgiving with new friends. * I got to spend Thanksgiving with my grandparents, which was extra special since I don’t get to see them that often. * I received an early christmas present from Viet (this ridiculously awesome camera) since he’s so cute he couldn’t wait to give it to me, and I’ve been painfully practicing shooting in manual (with my fair share of misses and a few hits). * I finally starting preparing for the holidays by putting together a gift guide for readers, a gift guide for the art lover, and a gift guide for Moi (more guides coming later this week). * I was also so inspired by Oprah’s favorites for 2013 that I shared some of my favorites for 2013.
And on top of all the fun, I worked really hard at my job this month (and the hubs worked so hard too). It almost felt like I was doing multiple jobs at once. As a result, I couldn’t give as much to the the blog as I wanted to, and I felt like the hubs and I were both constantly running to keep up with each day. It’s tricky when both of us are super slammed at work. When neither of us has anything left to give at the end of the day, it can feel overwhelming. But looking back over the month, I’m really proud of us. In the midst of a lot of personal and professional stress, we kept laughing and celebrating and prioritizing our family, friends, and each other. Focusing on joy and our relationships really helped us to make it through this month without completely losing it.
As for December, I’ve got a feeling we’re going to end 2013 with a bang. If we’re lucky, this month will be filled with just as much fun and excitement as November with a little less stress on the work front.
Thanks so much to all of you, fearless readers, for following along with my adventures. I am so very grateful for you.
What’s the best thing that happened to you during November 2013?
