I can’t believe I’m headed to Altitude Summit SLC for the third time. I feel very lucky to have had the chance to go the past two years. Each year I’ve made new relationships and gotten connected to opportunities and possibilities that I couldn’t have even imagined. I have so many dear friends that I met at Alt or through some Alt connection, so of course, I’m pretty stoked to be going again this year.
That said, I came this close to canceling my ticket a few months ago. I just kept thinking that if I’m being honest with myself I really already know what I should be doing to take my blogging to the next level. Now don’t get me wrong. NML has come a long way in the past three years, but there are lots of ways I’d love to see NML continue to grow and evolve. But at the end of the day, I have a loving husband, wonderful family, friends that I adore, and a more than full-time day job, and that puts NML at the bottom of my priority list.
So, I almost didn’t go.
But then I remembered that my favorite thing about Alt is the wonderful other bloggers I meet who are out there just like me trying to make and create and learn. It’s those relationships that make Alt such a magical place. And every year I walk away from Alt with this feeling like I can really change things in my life for the better. It’s more than even that. Alt gives you a creative re-charge.
This year, I feel especially unprepared for Alt. I had planned to pack, do last minute blog prep, and get myself fully coiffed and ready over the long weekend. But life threw our family a curveball, and instead I was in Atlanta up until Monday afternoon with my brother and his family. I worked all day yesterday, and I barely had enough time to throw things in my suitcase and sit on it long enough to zip it shut.
But you know what? I’m pretty good at wingin’ it. And this year, I will know so many more people at Alt than I ever have before. So really, it’s just going to be like a super fun reunion.
Here are my five simple goals for Alt:
- Make at least five new friends.
- Be brave and do something scary (talk to a potential sponsor, introduce yourself to a blogger you admire, etc.).
- Have Fun.
- Spend some quality time with my blogging friends.
- Stand up straight and don’t waste any time comparing yourself. You Rock.
