Last week we took our last trip before the Bean arrives. We headed to Houston first for Viet’s nephew’s wedding, and then we spent a few days with my family. But we spent the majority of week in New Orleans, the magical Big Easy, celebrating our dear friend Kara’s birthday.
A large group of our friends rented a house on Esplanade, and we spent several days eating and living like Kings! What a city. The beignets! the gumbo! the jazz! even the summer thunderstorms made me happy. I loved it all.
We rented a minivan, and I drove the crew around like a professional mom. 🙂
In case you’re ever headed that way, here are a few favorite spots:
Muriel’s > Jackson Square, Bonus that it’s apparently one of the most haunted spots in the US.
Stanley > right across from Muriel’s in Jackson’s square
The Ruby Slipper Cafe > on Canal street
The Columns > This place is a must! It’s such a neat old building.
Lafitte’s > One of the oldest bars in Nola
Mr. B’s Bistro > French Quarter (get the pecan pie)
The Three Muses > Frenchmen’s Street
Luke > St. Charles Avenue
Live Music > the best is on Frenchmen’s street. That’s where you should go if you’re looking for some live jazz.
d.b.a. > a bit loud for me
Cafe du Monde > Iconic tourist destination in Jackson Square
Morning Call > super tasty beignets, open 24 hours
Have you spent time in Nola? I can’t wait to go back someday with our little bean!
