Our sweet Beatrice Bao entered the world last Friday, September 12th at 10:14am. She is small but mighty. She weighed in at 5 lbs, 13 ounces and measured 19 inches. She quite literally started screaming as soon as her head entered the world (while the rest of her was still seconds away from being born).
The only way I can think to sum up the wonder that is Beatrice is magnificent. My daughter is here, world, and she is magnificent.
I can’t believe she is only five days old. Already it is as if we have spent a lifetime together, and I’m not sure if I’ll ever be able to remember again what life felt like without her. She is a bold, beautiful soul, and we feel very, very humbled to have her in our lives.
It seems as though we have learned and experienced hundreds of new things in the past five days, and although you always hear people talk about this, there is no real way for me to describe the magnitude with which our world has changed. We are still chest high in new parenthood. We are wading through the tired, hard, awesomeness that is figuring out how to be a family of three, but we are grateful for every second of it.
I am so grateful for Viet. He has been the most amazing partner, support, and father these past few days. I always knew he would be an incredible father, but seeing him become that dad has been a moving, love-filled privilege. Today, my due date, marks the one year anniversary of his dad’s passing and we honor him with our love. Beatrice will always carry him with her in spirit and in name (his dad’s name was Bao). I know he is watching over her.
Welcome to the world Bean! You are loved beyond measure.
