Woah-Man, Am I glad to see you!?
Let me tell you a secret–We didn’t make it to midnight.
10:37pm rolled around, and I felt the weight of 2017 come crashing down on me. I didn’t need to say goodbye to this year. Good riddance, 2017. We tucked ourselves and the kiddos in and passed out.
Bea woke up around 12:15am screaming with a raging fever. I slept lightly curled around her so that I could track her closely, keep her safe.
At around 4am my mind started racing with ideas and hopes and dreams for the year. Finally at 5:30am (Bea’s fever had broken), I pulled myself out of bed and headed downstairs to try to write.
I put the kettle on the stove in my parent’s kitchen, and I did a sun salutation to the day, to the year.
When the kettle began to wail, I pulled the first coffee cup I laid eyes on out of the cupboard, it stared boldly back at me:
nestled next to brightly colored flowers and birds, the universe’s message is clear. Wake up. Let’s do this, 2018.
So here I am after an hour of productive writing, privately spilling out all my hopes and dreams and ideas for the year, and I still have a little more to give. so I’m here. Did I mention yesterday that in the past few weeks at least two people that I didn’t realize read the blog mentioned to me randomly that they had missed my posts. I think I mentioned this yesterday, but thank you guys. That meant a lot and brought me back here.
It’s not much, but it feels like everything to have this new year, this new day, this desperately needed fresh slate.
Now for a Request:
I need some help, so here goes. I need a wordpress guru. I’m looking for someone who can help me do a basic update of my site and make the site mobile responsive. I’m willing to pay someone a reasonable amount of money (anyone want to also tell me how much that is?) or make a trade or love that person forever if they can help me for freezies.
Do you know anyone? Please drop me a comment if you do!
Also #baskalert, cue strobe lights and blow horns:
I’m doing another 365 day project this year. It’s really just about celebrating our family’s love of dance. I’m thinking of it as a daily little celebration to bask in the glory of how fun and awesome dancing makes us feel.
One of my favorite Nguyen family things is when we all dance together in the kitchen. If we’re getting stressed our or short with one another, we go straight to dance party mode and all is forgotten, all is recharged. So I thought it might be fun to give ourselves a little creative dancing challenge because we sometimes get in dance song ruts.
Each day this year, I will post a video of myself or the Nguyen family dancing to a sweet groove. Each day will have a NEW song. That’s right- 365 days of unique boogie woogie hits.
You can follow our hashtag #DancingNguyens on instagram to make sure you see my daily videos. You can also keep up with the playlist as it grows on Spotify by following our playlist: Dancing Nguyens.
Got Recs for us? We’ve got about 100 songs cued up, and we’re currently working on building our list. If you have any sweet dance songs you’d like to recommend (must have A: sick beat B: not be slow C: easily boogieable), please leave me a comment or send me a note. 🙂
Stay tuned for our first family dance video today-
and happy. frickin. new year!
